Grace Julia Okoroji, LPC
Associate Therapist
Here’s why I became a therapist…
My path into counseling has been shaped by a lifelong love of learning, a deep curiosity about people, and a desire to help others find ways to cope, heal, and thrive. For many years, I have worked in health informatics and clinical quality analytics, helping clinicians make data driven, empirically grounded decisions. I love the problem solving and the pursuit of clarity, and I have often found myself drawn to the human stories behind the data.
Over time, I realized that I am especially energized by supporting people directly. Sitting with individuals in their struggles, helping them make sense of their experiences, and walking with them toward hope and healing is both a privilege and a calling. That realization led me back to graduate school to obtain a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling in 2008, equipping me for this deeply meaningful work.
My Christian faith has always been central to my life. It shapes the way I understand compassion, presence, and service. As a Stephen Minister for many years, I have walked alongside individuals facing grief, loss, and life transitions. Those experiences parallel my work as a therapist, where I aim to offer a steady, respectful, and grace filled space for people navigating difficult seasons.
I am married and the mother of three adult children, and my personal and professional experiences have strengthened my belief that healing is possible, growth is real, and no one should have to walk through life’s challenges alone.
Some of my values…
Faith – My relationship with God grounds me. The teachings of Jesus — compassion, reconciliation, humility, and care for those on the margins — guide how I show up for clients.
Truth & Understanding – I value seeking clarity, identifying root causes, and helping clients understand their experiences in a way that brings freedom and direction.
Integrity – Trust is foundational in therapy. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely heard.
Acceptance – I believe in meeting each moment — and each person — as they are, without judgment.
Learning – I am a lifelong learner and an avid reader. Whether through books, professional training, or curiosity driven exploration, I love discovering knowledge that can support and empower others.
Service – It brings me joy to witness people grow, heal, and reconnect with their strengths and values.
Some of my education and experience…
I hold additional graduate degrees in Health Informatics and Applied Parasitology & Medical Entomology, along with a bachelor’s degree in Zoology. My counseling experience includes:
- Inpatient and outpatient psychotherapy
- Biopsychosocial assessments
- Individual, group, and family therapy
- Christian counseling
- CBT, multicultural, existential, and psychoeducational approaches
- Clinical work with anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, grief, bipolar and related disorders, chemical dependency, and homelessness related stressors
I continue to work as an informatician, supporting clinicians in making evidence based decisions that impact quality of care — a parallel to the way I practice psychotherapy: grounded in research, guided by compassion, and tailored to the needs of each individual.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors – License #99695 – and supervised by Mark Sperber, MA, LPCS.

In my personal time…
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading widely, serving in my church community, and going on 5K walks. These moments of connection, movement, and reflection help me stay grounded and bring renewed energy to my work with clients.
It would be an honor to work with you and walk alongside you on your personal journey.
