Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Group

I envision a 7-8 week closed group for individuals to learn about the six core ACT processes and how they can get “out of their head and into their life” – Thank you, Steve Hayes, Ph.D. Many experiential exercises in ACT would be amenable to group work. The group would broadly follow the model of checking on experiments from the last week, doing an experiential exercise, processing the exercise, and committing to a new experiment for the coming week.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Insomnia (CBT-I) Group

The six-session model of CBT-I is amenable to translation to a group format. I believe sharing the sleep logs publicly during group may help with a commitment to follow through on the sleep diary. The group format is also ideal for the psychoeducation part of the protocol.

ADHD Executive Skills Group

This psychoeducation group will teach about the various executive skills, how they relate to ADHD, and how to manage situations using these skills effectively. Another option is a parenting psychoeducation group. The parent and the kid may need the skills (given the high heritability of ADHD).

Forgiveness Group

This group can be for Christians or a general audience. This group follows the format from Everett Worthington, Ph.D. The group will consist of both psycho-ed and processing components. The facilitator will teach about how unforgiveness happens, teach the REACH model of forgiveness, and help the group participants process and apply forgiveness to their own lives. This group will be heavier on psychoeducation on the front end and more process-oriented towards the end.
